Autism Tasmania Inc.

• Autism Tasmania was started by a group of committed parents in October 1992. Through their hard work and perseverance,   Autism Tasmania is now recognized as the peak body and representative voice for the autism community in Tasmania.

• Membership is drawn from across Tasmania and includes individuals, families, carers,
organisations and professionals with a connection to the autism field.

• Autism Tasmania is an incorporated association under Tasmanian legislation. The constitution provides for its
affairs to be operated by a ten-person committee, with the provision where possible that at least two people
must be elected from each of the three regions of Tasmania – south, north and north-west.

• The Annual General Meeting is held in September each year. Members are encouraged to actively
participate in the running of Autism Tasmania by joining the committee or helping with specific activities.

• Autism Tasmania is managed by a voluntary committee.
