For school age
children "placement of students with disabilities in regular schools is the
preferred educational option in Tasmania" To assist teachers in the
assessment, educational programming and management of students with autism
spectrum disorder, the Department of Education, Community and Cultural
Development employs a state wide based Autism Consultant. Currently this position is occupied by Kathy Wilson
Kathy is based at Letitia House, Olinda Grove, Mount Nelson 03 62 33 7175
Although autism spectrum disorder is a lifelong disability with no recognised
cure, there are various options available to parents in Tasmania. These options
can greatly improve a persons potential for learning.
